Lauren Bath & Teal Diamond Contracting

Lauren Bath, owner of BCICA’s newest member, Teal Diamond Contracting, started her career in mechanical insulation after spending time in post-secondary and struggling to make ends meet.

“One day, I called my brother, Brian, upset because I thought I might have to sell my beloved Mustang," she says. “He wouldn’t let me sell it. He said I could come and work with him.”

Lauren agreed. She had no idea what she was in for, but she trusted him. She started working at Tight 5 Insulation with Brian as her foreman. They later went to Aarc-West and worked there for over a decade. Then, in December 2021, Brian died.

“Without a doubt, I learned from one of the best,” Lauren says. “Brian worked with many apprentices in the trade and made quite the impact over 20 years in the field. I hope to carry on standing by quality work to make him proud!”

As an insulator, Lauren has had the opportunity to meet people who have become not just coworkers but chosen family, and to provide for her family and spend quality time with them.

Teal Diamond Contracting is three years young and is built on teamwork and respect, reliability, consistency, and quality. Lauren is excited to see what the future holds as she seeks to expand operations in the Okanagan.

“Joining the BCICA was a no brainer,” Lauren says. “It supports my craft and career, and I appreciate and respect all that it does. I hope to connect more with the companies and individuals that drive our trade in the right direction.”

Lauren’s personal and professional philosophy is to always look for self-improvement, to set goals, and to grow. She would love to see the BCICA continue to find materials and products that serve the industry as it changes.

“Continuing to support and encourage upholding of industry standards and raising the bar helps support the quality of mechanical insulation,” she says.
