2024 BCICA Rob Nofield Memorial Derby Day a Resounding Success

2024 BCICA Derby Day

The BCICA’s Derby Day membership event is the largest race day at Hastings Park. Last year’s annual event saw 80 contractors and their guests attend for an exciting day at the track. This year, nearly as many gathered to network, socialize, and cheer on their favourites. Guests came from all across BC and Alberta to participate in what is quickly becoming one of the association’s most anticipated events.

This year, the event was renamed to commemorate Rob Nofield, an avid insulation advocate, reliable colleague, and kind and generous friend who died in June 2024. Rob and his family had roots in horse racing, and Rob’s was always the biggest smile on Derby Day. At this event, everyone wore ribbons in his memory and Hastings Park held a Blanket Race in his name.

Participants dressed up for Best Dressed Awards—Ryan Houston, Manson Insulation, won Best Dressed Male and Brett Thiel, Nor-West Firestop took home the Best Dresses Female win. Check out photos from the event - see below.

The BCICA strives to make every event as inclusive as possible. We would love to hear your feedback on this event and ways to both improve and keep up the good work. It takes about two minutes to answer. We look forward to your feedback!
